Based on Puccini’s opera La Boheme, RENT follows the ups and downs of a year in the life of a group of starving artist bohemian friends living on Avenue A in NYC in the late 1980s. This rock opera documents the loves and losses of this group of friends as they struggle with the HIV/AIDS epidemic that surrounds them.
