Beyond the Beanstalk: You Don’t Know Jack

“Beyond the Beanstalk: You Don’t Know Jack” is an original play written by Gil Opferman. It is the story of a modern day family who has a Grandpa who comes to visit and loves to tell his grandkids the many tales of Jack. He tells four stories of Jack, one from each different stage in Jack’s life from a young teen to senior. These humorous, magical stories come alive on stage. There’s witches, kings, princes, princesses, flying ships, and a lot of surprises! The show is directed by Gil & Ann Opferman featuring a cast of children, teens and adults.

AGES:  Ensemble cast of kids (must be at least 8 years old day of auditions), teens, and adults. Most actors will play a variety of roles in several stories

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Auditions scheduled for November 16th at Hoogland Center for the Arts.  Auditions will consist of cold reads.  You do NOT need to bring a prepared reading.  Callbacks will be done in the afternoon of November 16th or November 17th.

First rehearsal is January 2, 2020.  Rehearsals will be Mondays – Fridays

DIRECTOR NOTES:  This is a PLAY which is not to be confused with a musical. The focus is on acting, creating memorable characters, and being a riveting storyteller. This play tells four Jack tales starting with his first adventure and ending with his very last that contains a lot of interesting twists and turns. These four stories are told within the context of a modern-day family who has a visiting Grandpa who loves to share his Jack tales which come alive on stage.
