“So I sit out there in the audience,” says playwright Ken Bradbury, “and I enjoy the performances but I keep wondering… What’s going through the actor’s head? What happened before he came onstage? How did she first get into performing? What did his mother think? Has he ever worked with some real nutcases onstage? Okay, they’re in this role tonight, but what part do they really want to play? And what does the actor think of the audience?” Hundreds of hours of interviews with our local bounty of Central Illinois actors have been edited then woven into From Behind the Curtain, a new play by the writing team of Ken Bradbury and Roger Wainwright. The two-act musical is a rollicking ride through the memories, the nightmares, and the joys of our local acting community.
